El sudafricano Jared Houston se proclamó campeón del Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2017 

El circuito APB World Tour 2017 de bodyboard culminó en la jornada de hoy en el municipio de Gáldar, con la proclamación de Jared Houston como campeón del Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2017. El sudafricano desarrolló un magnifico surf durante la final superando al francés Amaury Lavernhe y convirtiéndose en el nuevo rey de El Frontón. 

Con unas condiciones inmejorables para celebración de la fase final de la prueba gran canaria, 8 eran los riders que se disputarían el pase a la gran final. Unas 2.000 personas llenaron las gradas y laderas de la ola de El Frontón, que desde primera hora de la tarde esperaban para presenciar las finales. 

CUARTOS DE FINAL 

En el primer enfrentamiento de cuartos de final el hawaiano Jacob Romero dejó fuera de competición y sin opciones al subcampeonato mundial al español, Alex Uranga. Uranga era uno de los favoritos a alcanzar el número 2 del ranking mundial. 

El sudafricano Jared Houston sería el siguiente rider en conseguir el pase a semifinales, lo que lo convertiría en claro favorita al subcampeonato mundial. El brasileño Dudu Pedra quedaría eliminado consiguiendo hasta el momento el único 10 (puntuación máxima) que le otorgaron los jueces en el día de ayer en octavos de final. 

El gran duelo de cuartos de final sería el enfrentamiento entre Pierre Louis Costes, campeón mundial 2016 y el tinerfeño Diego Cabrera. Durante 25 minutos el enfrentamiento entre ambos fue muy disputado, pero finalmente la manga caería de parte del francés que sería un serio candidato a ganar la prueba galdense. Diego Cabrera era hasta el momento el único canario en competición y con opciones al subtitulo mundial. Intachable la actuación de Cabrera durante todo el circuito APB World Tour 2017 donde ha acabado en el top 5. Amaury Lavernhe, el último “rey” ganó sin problemas su enfrentamiento ante el australiano Ryan Hardy. 

SEMIFINALES 

Los 4 riders que se disputarían el paso a la gran final serían, Jacob Romero, Jared Houston, Pierre Louis Costes y Amaury Lavernhe. 

El sudafricano Jared Houston y Amaury Lavernhe batieron en respectivos enfrentamientos a Jacob Romero y Pierre Louis Costes. Con esto la gran final del Gran Canaria Frontón King ya estaba servida. 

FINAL 

Una final muy luchada por estos 2 atletas gran conocedores de la ola del El Frontón. Ambos fueron muy selectivos a la hora de seleccionar sus olas. Y aunque las puntuaciones fueron en gran parte de la manga final, Amaury imponía su mayor número de horas surfeando la temida bestia, EL Frontón. Pero fue finalmente Jared Houston con una ola de 8.67 quien hizo dar un giro de 360º e imponerse en la gran final de esta última prueba del circuito mundial APB World Tour 2017.

The APB World Tour 2017 bodyboard circuit culminated today in the town of Gáldar, with the proclamation of Jared Houston as champion of the Gran Canaria Fronton King Pro 2017. The South African developed a magnificent surf during the final beating Frenchman Amaury Lavernhe and becoming the new king of El Fronton.

With excellent conditions to celebrate the final phase of the Grand Canarian test, 8 were the riders who would dispute the pass to the grand finale. Some 2,000 people filled the steps and slopes of the El Fronton wave, which from the early afternoon waited to witness the finals.

QUARTER FINALS

In the first quarter-final clash, Hawaiian Jacob Romero left out of competition and no options to world runner-up to Spanish Alex Uranga. Uranga was one of the favorites to reach number 2 in the world ranking.

The South African Jared Houston would be the next rider to get the pass to the semifinals, which would make it clear favorite to the world runner-up. The Brazilian Dudu Pedra would be eliminated getting so far the only 10 (maximum score) awarded by the judges yesterday in the round of 16.

The great quarter-final match would be the clash between Pierre Louis Costes, 2016 world champion and Diego Cabrera from Tenerife. During 25 minutes the confrontation between both was very disputed, but finally the sleeve would fall of part of the French that would be a serious candidate to gain the test galdense. Diego Cabrera was so far the only canary in competition and with options to the world subtitle. Intachable Cabrera’s performance throughout the APB World Tour 2017 circuit where he finished in the top 5. Amaury Lavernhe, the last “king” won without a problem against the Australian Ryan Hardy.

SEMIFINALS

The 4 riders that would dispute the passage to the great final would be, Jacob Romero, Jared Houston, Pierre Louis Costes and Amaury Lavernhe.

The South African Jared Houston and Amaury Lavernhe fought in respective confrontations to Jacob Romero and Pierre Louis Costes. With this the great end of the Gran Canaria Frontón King already was served.

FINAL

A final very fought by these two athletes great connoisseurs of the wave of the Fronton. Both were very selective when selecting their waves. And although scores were largely on the final sleeve, Amaury imposed his greatest number of hours surfing the dreaded beast, El Fronton. But it was finally Jared Houston with a wave of 8.67 that made a 360º turn and to impose itself in the great end of this last test of the world circuit APB World Tour 2017.
