con la representación canaria marcando la diferencia

La World Cup Gran Canaria Frontón King ha arrancado con el mejor espectáculo de bodyboard del mundo y las primeras 16 mangas de categoría open y 3 en categoría femenina. Con las condiciones óptimas para la práctica deportiva y un cielo azul de verano en pleno mes de octubre, ‘La Bestia’ ha vuelto a rugir en este enclave galdense para poner a prueba las mejores maniobras de los 64 riders que compiten en esta edición, totalmente segura y con un protocolo exigente para cumplir con todas las garantías sanitarias e higiénicas frente a la covid-19.


En esta primera jornada, chicos y chicas han probado la potente ola de El Frontón con unas primeras mangas llenas de espectáculo y maniobras de infarto, olas increíbles que fueron escenario de tubos, 360, blackflip y saltos sobre la cresta de locales e internacionales en un domingo a 25 grados marcado por la sana deportividad.

Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Portugal, Irlanda, Reino Unido, Venezuela, Perú, Francia y Marruecos han sido solo algunos de los países que han contado con representación en la jornada inaugural de El Frontón, que lleva este rincón de la costa de Gáldar a lo largo de todo el globo a través del deporte.

Arrancaron la mañana los riders en categoría open, en una primera acción inaugurada por el francés Maxime Castillo, que lideró la manga con una victoria ajustada al local Gabriel Molina y Pablo Hernández.  Probaron también la ola galdense varios de los riders más reconocidos de este campeonato, como Guillermo Cobo con 9,90 puntos, Jonathan Vega con dos olas destacadas que le pusieron a la cabeza de su manga, una gran actuación en el agua de Borja Granados con un 7,5 y un 6 en sus mejores olas y una manga que puso en jaque a Aitor Ojeda y Javier Domínguez con una puntuación muy cercana entre ambos.

Brilló en su enfrentamiento con ‘La Bestia’ el canario Omar Marrero con un 8 en un tubo perfecto y muy largo que puso en pie a los competidores que observaban la manga y levantó aplausos entre los asistentes. La manga que encabezó Marrero fue una de las más atractivas de la mañana, con 14 puntos para la maniobras de Samuel Brito, en un marcador solo superado por Eduardo Rodríguez, con dos olas de 7 y 7,6 que le dio la victoria de su manga.

También estrenaron las primeras olas de esta prueba, única de bodyboard profesional que se celebra, algunos de los ganadores de ediciones anteriores en su escalada al título, como William Luján, Dailos Rodríguez, Dailos Rodríguez, Alex Sebastian, Daute Perdomo, el tres veces Rey del Frontón, Amaury Lavernhe, o el también francés Pierre Louis Costés que en la edición pasada protagonizó una final que se decidió en los últimos minutos. 

 

Esta edición es también el debut de algunos rider que prueban suerte en el enclave del norte de Gran Canaria a nivel profesional, en un cara a cara con la ola galdense a la que se han presentado hoy bugueros como Rachid Lorenz de Lanzarote, el francés Fabien Thazar, o el inglés Daniel Skajarowski entre otros.

Además, durante la mañana y para las primeras mangas del día, el Frontón King ha sido a su vez un plató al aire libre, haciendo historia como el primer campeonato profesional de bodyboard televisado en directo a nivel nacional, a través de Televisión Canaria de 12 a 13.30 horas.

Este evento sigue un estricto protocolo de seguridad y prevención para convertir el espacio y la prueba en un entorno seguro y con todas las medidas higiénicas y sanitarias frente a la covid-19. celebrándose sin público y con control de accesos, desinfección, controles térmicos, señalética específica, uso obligatorio de mascarilla, y grupos ‘ burbuja’ para competidores, entre otras.

Cara a cara en féminas

Las chicas también han probado hoy la ola de El Frontón en las primeras mangas de esta edición 2020, que se han  disputado en un formato cara a cara que ha añadido emoción a las primeras rondas de la categoría femenina. En estos duelos han destacado los dos brillantes ‘rolos’ de derecha de Teresa Miranda, además de un backflip o un mortal hacia atrás de la actual campeona del campeonato, la austriaca Alexandra Rinder.

La Reina del Frontón King, Alexandra Rinder, mantiene su lucha por revalidar su título con rivales potentes como Teresa Miranda, la tinerfeña Texenery García y la venezolana Begoña Martínez. La latina, que es la primera vez compite en el Frontón King, no ha podido en esta primera manga con la veteranía de la austriaca, que se impuso en su frente a frente con 12,5 puntos, la más alta de la jornada en féminas, seguida del 11,75 acumulado por Teresa Miranda en su primera actuación.


La World Cup Gran Canaria Frontón King 2020 está organizada por Epic Events, promovida por el Cabildo de Gran Canaria a través del Patronato de Turismo del Cabildo de Gran Canaria y el Instituto Insular de Deportes, que vuelve a encuadrar esta prueba en su programa de Grandes Eventos Deportivos de Gran Canaria, así como el Ayuntamiento de Gáldar, instituciones que han hecho posible consolidar esta prueba deportiva como un referente internacional en el mundo del bodyboard.  Este evento cuenta con el patrocinio de Naviera Armas, NMD/CO, Red Bull, y las firmas colaboradoras, Jacio GuestHouse, Sonocom Audiovisuales, Hydro Flask, Aguacana, Meduxa Mag y Vert Magazine.
