King Pro 2019, visitan el Colegio Omayra Sánchez en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

La fuerza de la ola de El Frontón ha llegado hoy hasta las aulas, gracias a la visita de algunas de las principales figuras mundiales del bodyboard del momento. Los alumnos de 3º y 4º de la E.S.O. del Colegio de Enseñanza Obligatoria Omayra Sánchez, en Marzagán, han tenido el privilegio de conocer personalmente a riders de la talla del hawaiano Jeff Hubbard, tres veces campeón del mundo, Ayaka Suzuki y Jared Houston, actuales campeones del mundo en categoría femenina y masculina respectivamente, el francés Pierre Louis Costes, que actualmente se juega el título en el Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019, la alemana afincada en las islas y bicampeona mundial Alexandra Rinder, y el destacado rider canario Sergio Quevedo

La organización del Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019, última prueba del campeonato mundial de Bodyboard, junto al Instituto Insular de Deportes del Cabildo de Gran Canaria trabajan cada año por acercar el bodyboard a los colegios e institutos de Gran Canaria. En esta ocasión, una nutrida representación de las primeras figuras del circuito mundial ha visitado el C.E.O. Omayra Sánchez, en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, sorprendiendo a los alumnos de entre 14 y 15 años, que no han parado de fotografiarse con sus ídolos y pedirles autógrafos.  

Los chicos han podido disfrutar de algunas de las mejores imágenes que ha dejado el Frontón King en ediciones anteriores, con las que han aprendido cómo es una competición y cómo es la famosa ola del Frontón. A continuación, cada uno de los deportistas ha relatado en primera persona su experiencia en el mundo del bodyboard, cómo es su vida, por qué le gusta competir o qué razones le han llevado a escoger este deporte. Y los alumnos han tenido después la posibilidad de formularles todo tipo de preguntas. La mayoría de ellos querían saber cuál ha sido la ola más grande que han surfeado, si han tenido alguna lesión importante compitiendo, o cómo les aconsejarían a la hora de iniciarse en el mundo del bodyboard. Todos ellos han contestado sin perder la sonrisa y muy agradecidos por el caluroso recibimiento. De la misma forma, la organización del Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019 y el Instituto Insular de Deportes del Cabildo de Gran Canaria ha dado las gracias a la dirección del centro por darles la posibilidad de seguir llevando las bondades de una disciplina como el bodyboard a los más jóvenes, transmitiéndoles el valor de la competitividad sana y el deporte al aire libre y enseñándoles a valorar el hecho de contar en su propia tierra con una ola mundialmente reconocida, la ola de El Frontón.       

                Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019 está organizado por Epic Events, y promovido por el Cabildo de Gran Canaria a través del Patronato de Turismoy la Consejería de Deportes que enmarca esta prueba deportiva dentro del programa Isla Europea del Deporte en la categoría Premium de Grandes de Eventos de Gran Canaria y el Ayuntamiento de Gáldar. The strength of the El Frontón wave has reached the classrooms today, thanks to the visit of some of the world’s leading bodyboard figures of the moment. The students of 3rd and 4th of the E.S.O. from the Omayra Sánchez Compulsory School of Education, in Marzagán, they have had the privilege of personally meeting riders of the likes of Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard, three times world champion, Ayaka Suzuki and Jared Houston, current world champions in women’s and men’s categories respectively , the Frenchman Pierre Louis Costes, who currently plays the title in the Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019, the German based in the islands and world champion Alexandra Rinder, and the outstanding Canarian rider Sergio Quevedo.

And the students have had the possibility of asking them all kinds of questions afterwards. Most of them wanted to know what has been the biggest wave they have surfed, if they have had any major injuries competing, or how they would advise them when they started in the world of bodyboarding. All of them have answered without losing their smile and very grateful for the warm welcome. In the same way, the organization of the Gran Canaria Frontón King Pro 2019 and the Insular Sports Institute of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has thanked the management of the center for giving them the possibility to continue carrying the benefits of a discipline such as bodyboarding to the youngest, transmitting the value of healthy competitiveness and outdoor sports and teaching them to value the fact of having a world-renowned wave in their own land, the wave of El Frontón.[:]
